Corona Virus
Coronavirus Community Support
This is a community initiative, supported by Leigh Parish Council.
How you can help:
  1. Be aware of your neighbours, friends and family in the village. Some people will be in self isolation and/or particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus. Keep a dialogue with people and follow government advice if you are worried about them.
  2. Volunteer to help. Could you be a point of contact for reassurance? Could you pick up extra items at the shop or chemist? Maybe even walk their dogs if needed.
  3. Distribute flyers in your area offering a contact number and name for those who may need help in this time of restricted movement
We have put together a temporary email address for volunteers to sign up to distributing flyers through the door of residents who may be in need of support.  This is Leighcommunityaction@gmail.com

We will communicate by Facebook, the community newsletter and the three community noticeboards.

We ask that residents do not put themselves or other at risk at any time. Please ensure you follow the current government health advice at all times.

Message from the Vicar on Friday 20th March:

Dear All,
I am deeply aware of just how anxious and worried people are at this uncertain time. Many face severe financial difficulties with all the consequences that follow. Although the Archbishop has suspended all normal church services throughout England, I want to reassure everyone that the hour by hour, day by day pastoral work of the church goes on. The church in Leigh and the church in Brockham are still open every day for people to use for private prayer and reflection. Likewise, if you feel it would help to talk confidentially about any issue, are feeling isolated or feeling frightened please remember, I am available as always, on the Vicarage phone number 01306 611224.
Please note that provision for weddings and funerals continue as usual.
You are all very much in my thoughts and prayers,
Jonathan

And from Revd. Frank Delaney:
Whilst there are no public worship services, Revd Frank Lehaney and Christine Shearing will be celebrating communion on behalf of the parish of Leigh every Sunday morning at 10.00. The bell will be tolled so that the community knows we are in the church praying and sharing communion on behalf of the village and nation.
